Recent advances in data science and AI offer opportunities to reduce emissions across a wide array of climate change challenges.

These include rapid increases in energy systems efficiency, optimising transport networks, improving industrial processes, and real-time tracking of deforestation.

Barriers

Solving climate breakdown will require a whole systems approach. This includes regulatory shifts as well as new technologies, but conversations in each space are often siloed.

Other barriers include existing data sharing models, market incentive structures, finance bottlenecks and business models.
